Naveen Sydney is renowned for his strategic vision, transformational leadership, and commitment to leveraging technology to address global challenges. As the CEO of SeaSweepers LLC, he spearheads an innovative initiative focused on tackling the critical environmental issue of marine plastic pollution.

With 25-plus years of experience across diverse industries, including Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Healthcare, and Insurance, he has consistently demonstrated an ability to transform complex challenges into opportunities for growth, sustainability, and positive societal impact.

Naveen's journey is profoundly shaped by his early years growing up in Kottivakkam, a small fishing hamlet in Chennai, India. Surrounded by the beauty and power of the ocean, he developed a deep appreciation for marine ecosystems and an unyielding commitment to their preservation. This passion fuels his work at SeaSweepers, where he is devoted to mitigating the devastating effects of plastic pollution and advancing ocean conservation efforts.

Naveen brings significant expertise in plastics technology, honed during his tenure at Tempsen Devices, a company founded by his father. At Tempsen, he developed control systems for plastic equipment, gaining crucial insights into the intricacies of plastic manufacturing and processing. This experience gave him a solid technical foundation and laid the groundwork for his current focus on sustainable solutions with SeaSweepers to transform marine plastic waste into valuable resources.

Under Naveen’s leadership, SeaSweepers is developing a state-of-the-art recycling plant with an initial capacity to process 20,000 tons of HDPE plastics annually. The plant is dedicated to collecting and recycling marine plastics and transforming them into high-quality products such as plastic replacements for lumber and furniture, directly contributing to the local economy. By creating employment opportunities and driving sustainable practices, SeaSweepers is establishing itself as a key player in the circular economy, repurposing marine plastic waste into assets that benefit both the environment and the community.

Naveen has a proven track record of nurturing high-performing teams and leading them to achieve ambitious goals. As Chief Technology Officer at hyperFIELD, he led transformative initiatives that earned the company a top-four finish in the Blockchain Sandcastle Start-up Challenge, underscoring his ability to translate emerging technologies into impactful, real-world applications. At Raytheon, his leadership of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) projects resulted in the creation of the LOKI product line, which rapidly expanded to serve multiple customers and achieved significant cost reductions for the company.

As CEO of SeaSweepers, Naveen focuses not only on environmental impact but also on fostering economic growth and community resilience. He believes in the power of technology to serve the greater good and is committed to transforming waste management practices through sustainable innovation. By working closely with government bodies, local communities, and international partners, he ensures that SeaSweepers is more than just a business; it is a movement driving towards a cleaner, healthier future for our oceans.

He has consistently demonstrated his capacity to build and mentor high-performing teams, establish new ventures from the ground up, and lead cross-functional and outsourced teams to success in complex technological projects.

At SeaSweepers, Naveen leverages his expertise to build a business that achieves financial success and contributes meaningfully to environmental sustainability and community well-being. His leadership exemplifies his commitment to combining technological innovation with strategic business leadership, establishing the company as a trailblazer in the fight against marine plastic pollution and a model for sustainable business practices worldwide.
